Against 17 other teams, a few RiverHawks competed at the Portland Distance Carnival hosted by Lewis & Clark College for the track events and George Fox University for the field events.
Lucas Hicks was the top performer for the RiverHawks, as he finally got to run the men's 100m and ran a personal best 11.32 to place 5th of 22 overall in the race. As well, Lucas had a perosnal best in the men's long jump (while jumping into a headwind) with a mark of 6.53m/21-5.25ft. This established Lucas well in both events going into the NWAC Championships next week. Gaby Rudd also competed in the women's triple jump for the first time and jumped and impressive 10.84m/35-6.75ft, which was a personal best and ranks her #2 in the NWAC (just below Vermillion's mark).
The RiverHawk Track & Field teams will next compete in the NWAC Championships hosted at Mt. Hood CC on Monday and Tuesday May 23-24th.
