More Personal Bests and School Records Set

The RiverHawk Track and Field teams competed in two separate locations this weekend. Javelin throwers Zachary Holland and Colby Neron threw the Javelin at the Hayward Premiere in Eugene on Friday night. Zach won the competition with Colby finishing in 9th. "Having our two guys make the final at Hayward is spectacular," said Javelin Coach Jim Feeney. The next day, Christopher Penn competed in the 100m and 200m. Penn finished the 100m in third place overall with a 10.64, to break his own personal and school record by .02. This time it was a wind legal performance.

On Saturday, the rest of the team was at the Linfield Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational in McMinnville. Leading the Hawks was Jadyn Vermillion with a win in the women's long jump and a fourth place finish and school record in the 200m dash. Her time of 26.58 ranks her second in the NWAC. Alex Duguid-Green had a big day in the men's discus. He finished 4th, with a three meter personal best of 43.73 and now ranks second in the NWAC. More personal bests included Eve Elmore in the women's hammer (and now ranks 4th in the NWAC), Alexandra Durfee and Aubry Brownson in women's shot (both Lexie and Aubry set personal bests in discus and hammer as well), Danielle Christenson in the women's 800m run, Mariah Summers in the women's 5k (new school record), Daniel Escamilla Garcia in the 110 hurdles, and Dustin Baze in the men's 400m run.

Up next will be the Titan Invitational hosted by Lane Community College, April 8-9th. The distance events will be held on Friday night beginning at 5:00pm with the rest of the events being contested on Saturday.
