Track & Field Continues to Improve

Most of the team had the weekend off, however three members of the track team competed at the Empire Lake Multi hosted by Southwestern Oregon Community College on Thursday and Friday. Danielle Christenson finished in 4th place at the conclusion of the event. Keith Sorenson and Ashton Wolfe competed in the decathlon, where Sorenson placed 5th followed by Ashton in 6th.

The following day, a few of the RiverHawk track team competed at the OSU PNW Invite, hosted by Oregon State University. Leading the team was Christopher Penn. Chris ran two lifetime bests and finished second in both of his races. Penn's time in the 100m dash of 10.66 and 21.47 in the 200m were both new school records and moved him into the number one spot in conference for both events. Also running well in the 100m was Dustin Baze with a new lifetime best of 11.17. His time moved him up to fifth in the NWAC conference rankings. In the men's javelin, Colby Neron finished in 2nd place with a throw of 59.66m, which was his second best toss of his life and remains the top thrower in the conference. Also performing well was Donovon Bruce (3rd in the men's 400m), Ashton Wolfe (3rd in the men's pole vault), Leonie Samuels (3rd in women's shot put) and Alex Duguid-Green (5th in discus).

This upcoming weekend will see the team split and compete in two locations, Willamette T&F Invitational and the Pacific Preview. Both will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2022.
