Hawks Track & Field Split the Weekend in Multiple Locations

Seven RiverHawks were accpeted into the Oregon Relays at the University of Oregon on Friday and Saturday against 19 other teams, while the rest of the team competed in a dual meet at Southwestern Oregon CC on Saturday.

At the Oregon Relays, Zachary Holland faced some solid competition to take 3rd overall with a throw of 78.58m/257-10ft (his second best throw ever). Ashton Wolfe competed in the men's pole vault and secured a 4th place finish overall with a 4.28m/14-0.5ft clearance. In the 100m, Christopher Penn took 5th with a time of 10.86 (his 3rd fastest time of his career). In a very tough field of competition, Leonie Samuels finished 8th in the shot put with a toss of 12.94m/42-5.5ft.

On the coast at the Steve Prefontaine Masters, several RiverHawks competed well in the dual. Opening his season was Lucas Hicks in the long jump with a jump of 5.88m/19-3.5ft and a 3rd place finish. Giovanni Boyle ran a lifetime best in the 100m with a time of 11.60, and Daniel Johnson was closely behind with a time of 11.96. Donovon Bruce ran a solid time of 51.42 season's best in the 400m. Attreyu Pinard ran his personal best in the 1500m with a time of 4:36.02, and in the 3000m steeplechase, Noah Retherford also ran a lifetime best with a time of 11:40.90. Jaylen Allen hit a personal best mark in the triple jump with a jump of 12.66m/41-6.5ft. Alex Duguid-Green hit a solid personal best in the hammer, with a throw of 40.54m/133-0ft. Mariah Summers ran the 800m with a time of 2:41.94 to better her previous time, then turned around to run the 3000m steeplechase for the first time and completely solo. Also racing solo was Pamela Decko, who paced herself to 20:30.42 in the 5000m. Aubry Brownson had 2 personal bests in both the discus (28.23m/92-7ft) and hammer (33.26m/109-11ft) throws.

The RiverHawks will next compete at the Oregon State High Performance Meet (for those who qualify). This will be the last meet the Hawks compete at before the South Regional Championships at Lane CC.
