Holland Ranks U.S. Top 10

Umpqua Community College's Zach Holland cracked the top ten rankings compiled by Track & Field News. The rankings were compiled based on winning the Javelin competition at the Oregon Relays, finishing sixth at the Tucson Elite and ending the season with a ninth place finish at the Olympic Trials.

Last year was a very different and challenging season for Zach. "Because of Covid-19 rules, we decided to red-shirt the season because of protocols at most of the meets," stated Coach King. "A lot of NCAA D1 schools were not going to allow junior college athletes to compete, so we made the decision not to have him compete for the team last year. We are very excited to have him back representing the RiverHawks in NWAC competitions again this spring."

When asked, Zach said, "I am excited to see what I can do. I set big goals for myself and it will be fun to have a normal season to chase the goals."

Javelin coach Jim Feeney stated, "Zach's goal is to throw over 80 meters in 2022 and surpass the current junior college national record of 75.72 meters which was set over 35  years ago."
