Jalen came to UCC from Roseburg High School but contrary to what the freshmen think she did NOT graduate in 2012.  As an RHS athlete, Jalen was All Southwest Conference in both basketball and soccer while academically she was a 3.9 student and was asked to participate in the Academic Excellence Showcase at Western Oregon University. After high school Jalen started attending WOU but soon realized that she missed competing and came back to play at UCC where she is studying both Medical Imaging and Business.  Jalen also loves traveling and going hiking and this past summer went on a two week road trip throughout the western United States with former UCC guard Cielo Gonzalez and they only got lost a handful of times. Jalen says she likes playing for Coach Dave Stricklin because he knows how to win and is helping her get better. Plus they both like to talk to each other about what things were like in "the good old days."

During the week, Jalen chauffeurs everyone to school/practice and back in her yellow hearse because she can and because no one else on the team has their driver’s license. 

Fun fact - Besides all her athletic and academic accomplishments Jalen is also an outstanding musician and can play both the saxophone and the trombone, but not at the same time!
