As an athlete he ran for the legendary Joe Vigil at Adams State College, where he was a four-time NAIA national qualifier and a two-time All-American in the triple jump. He is grateful to have had the opportunity to work with several outstanding coaches throughout his career, including college coaches Dr. Joe Vigil and Jim Bevan, high school Coaches Lee Webb and Peter De La Cerda, and club coaches Selwyn Dews and Walter Walls.  "It is an honor and privilege to coach young men and women. I am grateful to Coach King and UCC for the opportunity to do so in the context of this sport that I love."

"We are blessed to Wagoner here at UCC," stated Head Coach Alan King. "To have someone on staff with his level of knowledge is not only great for the athletes, but as an entire staff."
